The 47th Annual General Meeting of Northern  Regional Centre of IIChE

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, DTU Chapter conducted the Grand 47th Annual General Meeting of the Northern Regional Centre of IIChE at Qutab Institutional Area auditorium, New Delhi-110016. The meet began with a welcome address by the chairman, IIChE (NRC), followed by confirmations on the minutes of the event. Next were the presentations. The secretary’s Report, 2019-2020 and the NRC accounts, 2019-2020, were presented by the honorary treasurer. Guest speaker Dr J.P. Gupta, distinguished scientist and chairman, Ministry of Environment, Government of India, presented his views on “Process Safety is one of the key drivers to achieve Five Trillion Dollars Economy” which managed to create a wave of excitement among the audience. The last presentation was delivered by one of the guest speakers Dr Soumitro Nagpal, Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, on “Refinery Configurations for Maximizing Crude Oil to Chemicals Conversion”, followed by an interactive Q&A session towards the end. The event concluded with a Prize Distribution ceremony for the deserving student members of IIChE (NRC). A delightful feast was arranged for all the attendees allowing people to network and socialize with others.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, DTU Student Chapter conducted a Tree Plantation Drive throughout the campus.Students, faculty and staff actively participated in the drive and planted saplings all around the campus. The aim of this drive was to make the campus greener, spread awareness and seek solutions to preserve it.The event was honoured by the presence of our HOD, Dr S.G. Warkar and other senior faculties. The drive was conducted to express concerns towards the depleting health of environment and as a means to promote greenery.The drive was mainly led by the senior team of IIChEconsisting of 3rd year students of branch PSCT accompanied by the 2nd year students. The first year students also took part in the event with greater enthusiasm.

26TH LOVRAJ KUMAR MEMORIAL LECTURE

Members of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, DTU Student Chapter attended the 26th Lovraj Kumar Memorial Lecture on 31st October 2019, at India International Center, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi. The lecture featured Padma Vibhushan Professor M.M. Sharma, FRS, who is an Emeritus Professor of Eminence, at the prestigious Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. The topic of the lecture was imperatives in chemical, petrochemical and petroleum refining industries. The members listened to him with great interest and enthusiasm, and it was a great learning experience for the members.

CAREER CONSULTING

Indian Institute of chemcial engineers, DTU Chapter conducted a Career Consulting Workshop for all B.Tech. Students, emphasising on Polymer Science students, to make them aware of what all prospects are required in a resume to make it different and more eye-catching for a recruiter, in the current scenario. Around 150 students gathered at the venue, displaying keen participation & support to friends. Dr Archna Rani and Dr Manish Jain graced the event with their presence. T he workshop began with an in-depth discussion on resume building, about all what mattered and didn’t matter on it, about the recruiter’s view, required aspects—the difference between a Resume and CV. The thoughtfully formulated presentation covered the problems that students typically face or might face during their placement season. A fact came up, that 92% of recruiters use online job portals for hiring, considering that, the discussion gradually advanced towards LinkedIn, it’s the importance and how students can utilise more out of it by enhancing their profiles, such as: by using a professional display photograph, endorsements, networking, & many more.
