What is COVID-19?

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow). At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.

SOCIAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS

SOCIAL AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS

COVID-19 Pandemic forced humans to remain inside four walls for a considerable period, with still no clue of gliding into the "Old Normal" from the "New Normal". In response, members of ACS-DTU, also being a part of Department’s Annual Technical Fest TATVA, decided to eradicate one of the main reasons behind this: Negligence. Hence to combat & arrest the spread of COVID-19, ACS-DTU supported the launch of two Social Awareness Campaigns in the month of April, 2020: “SWAPPED" & "#MakeYourOwnMask". Former focussing on mental upkeep during the lockdown & the latter highlighting the importance of Mask, the soul of both campaigns was to extirpate Negligence. Keeping in mind the Social Distancing norms, both of the Social Awareness Campaigns were Online Only

SWAPPED CAMPAIGN

1/3

The SWAPPED Campaign incorporated all the aspects one could resort to during the free times & drove the populace from emptiness to creativity. Youth was prompted by this Campaign & devoted their free time to do creative things. Examples: If anyone loved singing, he/she sent us a 30-second video of his/her singing. If the inclination was towards photography, just send it to us & post it. Around 100 people participated in this campaign, whereby they sent their sample from any one of the SWAPPED(Singing/Writing/Animation/Painting/Photography/ Acting/Dancing). The best entries were featured on our Social Media Handle. While methodising this event, it was challenging to exterminate the emptiness & darkness, which may have sneak peaked in many lives(due to lockdown). Hence, to push people to resort to creativity to prevent the dark outcome of lockdown, a creative concept was a prerequisite. It is because creativity encourages creativity, positivity spreads positivity. To emerge out with an idea of SWAPPED was itself a challenge.

#MAKEYOUROWNMASK CAMPAIGN

United we Stand, Divided we Fall; #MakeYourOwnMask is Nations’ Call!!

The #MakeYourOwnMask & #DTUFightsCorona Campaign was initiated to aid our country & college in these testing times. The entire Campaign is devised according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Campaign aimed to highlight the importance of wearing Masks in such checking times & promote the populace to make their own Mask (at home). The campaign also marked that First step to STOP COVID 19 begins from you wearing the Mask. To promote the Campaign & make it reach heights, it was first accomplished by the office bearers at TATVA DTU, ACS DTU and their friends. Further, the other members successfully made their own Mask (at home) & posted their selfie. Such events just sparked the initiation of a Social Awareness Campaign at a grand scale. Moreover, post marking the benefits & important points regarding homemade Mask, we were successfully able to reach the masses, effectively.
